Welcome! My name is Tonja, and I am the founder of Untethered Healing. I am a survivor of abuse—sexual abuse at the hands of not one, but 2 foster fathers. Physical, emotional, and verbal abuse at the hands of many whose job it was to protect me, including my own parental providers. That abuse continued through broken relationships with controlling and narcissistic men.

But despite all of this, I became a published poet at the age of 15 and attained my B.S in Psychology after my first divorce. Human behavior has always fascinated me. Why do we do the thngs we do to each other?


I currently reside somewhere near the ocean – my Happy Place. I grew up in a small lakeside town in Michigan, so I guess you could say water is in my blood.

I’m an eclectic deep thinker, mother, poet, and sun worshiper, among other things, all pooled together in a kaleidoscope of Colorful Me!


I love art + old antique furniture, could live forever in a cottage on the oceanside, should have stock in good coffee, and long for a library big enough to fill an entire room in my house!

I started this blog to share my own personal experiences in life, love, and the never-ending pursuit for complete and total mental health. It is a journey of self-discovery and healing.

If I can touch just one life, make just one person’s life better and worth living, then I will die a happy woman.
